Landing in various ways

Germination of heliopsis is carried out in two ways: using seedlings and further planting in open ground or immediately landing on the site.

For seedlings, seeds are sown in small containers with a substrate of earth and humus or ready-made soil.

  1. In the containers, make drainage holes and place the seeds to a depth of not more than 1 cm.
  2. Cover with a film or a lid, put in the light, ventilate 2-3 times a day.
  3. Water as the soil dries, the first 2 weeks 1 time every 3-4 days.
  4. Maintain bright lighting and temperature + 25 ... +32 ° С.
  5. Temper the flower in April-May, after germination of sprouts and the appearance of mature leaves.
  6. Planted in early May, water the first week regularly until the heliopsis is fully adapted.

Sowing seeds in open ground:

  1. Landing in October-November.
  2. Mix the soil with sand and peat.
  3. The distance between rows is about 70 cm, between plants - 50-70 cm.
  4. Seeds should not be buried more than 3 cm.
  5. When sowing in the spring (April-May), it should be kept in the refrigerator for about a month to stratify artificially.
  6. After the appearance of sprouts, if they are too close, they need to be thinned or transplanted to some plants in another place. Heliopsis needs a lot of space.

Plant care

Although heliopsis is unpretentious, certain requirements should be observed when leaving:

  1. Water regularly, but not often, otherwise decay will begin.
  2. Garter high grades to backwater.
  3. After flowering, cut off wilted flowers, remove stems in autumn.
  4. Weed and fertilize regularly with peat or humus soil.
  5. Place the flower from the south well-lit side.

Formation, preparation for winter

In order for the heliopsis to branch, but not to stretch up, pinch or remove the buds of shoots before flowering. Thus, the plant will be invulnerable to bad weather, but will bloom later.

Before wintering, heliopsis is cut about 12 cm from the ground. By spring, the plant again forms young shoots.
